Le navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Moncton a entam\u00e9 un d\u00e9ploiement de six semaines dans le cadre de l'op\u00e9ration Caribbe. Il a quitt\u00e9 Halifax le 24 octobre. L'op\u00e9ration Caribbe est la contribution du Canada aux op\u00e9rations renforc\u00e9es de lutte contre les stup\u00e9fiants men\u00e9es par les \u00c9tats-Unis dans le cadre de la Force op\u00e9rationnelle interagences Sud, qui est charg\u00e9e de coordonner les efforts interagences et internationaux visant \u00e0 d\u00e9tecter et \u00e0 surveiller le trafic illicite de stup\u00e9fiants, afin d'en faciliter l'interception.<\/p>\n

Les FAC affirment qu'elles participent activement \u00e0 l'op\u00e9ration Caribbe pour soutenir les efforts multinationaux de lutte contre le trafic illicite. Il s'agit d'utiliser les capacit\u00e9s navales et a\u00e9riennes pour d\u00e9tecter et surveiller les activit\u00e9s suspectes de contrebande de drogue dans les eaux des Cara\u00efbes et au large de la c\u00f4te pacifique de l'Am\u00e9rique centrale.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le contre-amiral Jos\u00e9e Kurtz, commandant des forces maritimes de l'Atlantique et de la force op\u00e9rationnelle interarm\u00e9es de l'Atlantique, a soulign\u00e9 l'importance de ce court d\u00e9ploiement dans un communiqu\u00e9 de presse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2006, the Canadian Armed Forces has been engaged in Operation Caribbe through the deployment of Royal Canadian Navy ships and Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft.
