Glen Oliver Alexander est n\u00e9 le 17 mai 1943 \u00e0 Wainwright, en Alberta. Il s'est engag\u00e9 dans la\nMarine royale canadienne le 30 ao\u00fbt 1960 et a servi pendant 15 ans. Glen est ensuite pass\u00e9 \u00e0\nl'arm\u00e9e canadienne pendant 11 ans, servant dans les Royal Canadian Dragoons pendant un an\net les 10 ann\u00e9es restantes dans le Corps postal royal canadien.<\/span><\/p>\n

M. Alexander a suivi sa formation au NCSM Cornwallis et au NCSM Stadacona, en Nouvelle-\n\u00c9cosse, pour la marine, puis \u00e0 la base des Forces canadiennes de Trenton, en Ontario, pour\nl'arm\u00e9e. Il a suivi les cours suivants : Cours de base, groupes de m\u00e9tiers 1 et 2, armes de\nsurface, niveaux de solde 1 \u00e0 6, et commis des postes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a servi au Canada, en Allemagne, en \u00c9gypte et, bien s\u00fbr, dans l'oc\u00e9an Atlantique. Tout au\nlong de ses ann\u00e9es dans la Marine, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 membre de l'\u00e9quipage des NCSM Lanark, Lauzon,\nMic Mac, Nipigon, Cap de la Madeline, Bonaventure, Protecteur et Assiniboine.<\/p>\n

Glen a re\u00e7u la M\u00e9daille canadienne du maintien de la paix, la M\u00e9daille de l'OTAN, la M\u00e9daille\ndu jubil\u00e9 de diamant de la Reine, ainsi que la D\u00e9coration et la Barrette des Forces canadiennes.\nIl a \u00e9t\u00e9 lib\u00e9r\u00e9 des Forces canadiennes le 12 septembre 1985 et a pris sa retraite avec le grade\nde matelot de 1re classe dans la marine et le grade de caporal-chef dans l'arm\u00e9e.<\/span><\/p>\n

Quelques faits tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressants sur Glen apr\u00e8s sa retraite des forces r\u00e9guli\u00e8res : Dans les\nann\u00e9es 1990, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9serviste pendant 10 mois ; il a \u00e9t\u00e9 le C.I.C. du corps de cadets de la\nmarine Admiral Murray jusqu'\u00e0 sa dissolution en 2017 ; il a \u00e9t\u00e9 membre de la MacDonald\nMemorial Legion \u00e0 Lakeside, et il a \u00e9t\u00e9 transf\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 la filiale no 34 de la New Glasgow Legion\nNormandy, dont il a \u00e9t\u00e9 le pr\u00e9sident pendant plusieurs mandats et l'officier d'entraide pendant\n20 ans.<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 directeur de l'Association nationale des retrait\u00e9s f\u00e9d\u00e9raux pendant 30 ans et membre de\nl'Admiral Murray Naval Association dans le comt\u00e9 de Pictou, o\u00f9 il a occup\u00e9 la plupart des\npostes de direction au cours de ses nombreuses ann\u00e9es d'activit\u00e9. Glen a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9\ndirecteur du Mus\u00e9e militaire du comt\u00e9 de Pictou pendant plus de 10 ans.<\/span><\/p>\n

Glen est mari\u00e9 \u00e0 Marie Marguerite Doucet-Alexander de Sydney, en Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse, et a un\nfils, une fille et trois petits-enfants. Glen et Marie vivent \u00e0 Fraser's Mountain, dans le comt\u00e9 de\nPictou, en Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse. Il travaille toujours au terrain de golf Glen Lovat, dans le comt\u00e9 de\nPictou, qui se trouve presque en face de son domicile.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lorsque j'ai demand\u00e9 \u00e0 M. Alexander une citation sur sa vie, il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab J'ai connu\nbeaucoup d'endroits diff\u00e9rents gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ma carri\u00e8re militaire et je me suis fait beaucoup d'amis.\nMa femme est toujours avec moi, mes enfants sont toujours l\u00e0, j'ai trois petits-enfants qui me\n\ngardent actif, et je peux encore manier un club de golf \u00e0 plus de 80 ans. Ce n'est pas mal du\ntout - c'est une belle vie. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n
