\"\"Je me souviens d'une exp\u00e9rience que j'ai v\u00e9cue juste apr\u00e8s avoir termin\u00e9 ma formation de base. J'\u00e9tais un matelot de 18 ans et l'unit\u00e9 effectuait des jeux de guerre \u00e0 Borden \u00e0 la fin de l'hiver. Alors que nous approchions de la fin de l'exercice, j'\u00e9tais parmi les nombreux \u00e9puis\u00e9s. C'est alors qu'il m'est venu \u00e0 l'esprit que si j'\u00e9tais \u00ab abattu \u00bb, je serais \u00ab mort \u00bb et je pourrais passer le reste de l'exercice \u00e0 tra\u00eener avec les autres \u00ab bless\u00e9s \u00bb dans le froid et \u00e0 l'abri des \u00e9l\u00e9ments - avec du vrai caf\u00e9 !<\/span><\/p>\n

Une perspective tr\u00e8s tentante.<\/span><\/p>\n

Combien de fois, dans la vie, avons-nous l'impression de vouloir tout laisser tomber. Peut-\u00eatre que notre relation n'est pas ce que nous avions imagin\u00e9, ou peut-\u00eatre qu'elle est p\u00e9rim\u00e9e. Peut-\u00eatre que la formation professionnelle, l'affectation, la promotion ou le d\u00e9ploiement que nous attendions nous a \u00e9chapp\u00e9 - une fois de plus. Peut-\u00eatre que la \u00ab personne charmante \u00bb avec laquelle nous devons travailler n'a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 affect\u00e9e cette ann\u00e9e, etc. Vous connaissez les raisons, parce qu'une version ou une autre de ces raisons nous touche tous de temps en temps. Et lorsque cela se produit, l'envie de \u00ab tirer la sonnette d'alarme \u00bb peut \u00eatre irr\u00e9sistible. Apr\u00e8s tout, nous nous disons : \u00ab Qu'est-ce qui pourrait \u00eatre pire que ce que je vis en ce moment ?<\/p>\n

Et soyons honn\u00eates, c'est parfois vrai. Parfois, il vaut mieux changer de situation. Mais bien plus souvent, \u00ab l\u00e2cher prise \u00bb finit par signifier \u00ab perdre. \u00bb C'est du moins ce que j'ai d\u00e9couvert.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bien que je n'aie pas fait le coup de la Premi\u00e8re Guerre mondiale o\u00f9 j'ai volontairement laiss\u00e9 l'ennemi me tirer dessus pour \u00eatre renvoy\u00e9 chez moi, j'ai certainement perdu ma volont\u00e9 de continuer. Et bien s\u00fbr, dans un moment d'inattention, quelqu'un m'a tu\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pour moi, la guerre \u00e9tait finie et j'ai rejoint la \u00ab tente des morts. \u00bb Compte tenu de ce qui m'attendait, j'aurais d\u00fb \u00eatre heureux. J'\u00e9tais \u00e0 l'abri des intemp\u00e9ries et il y avait du caf\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le probl\u00e8me, c'est qu'aucun de mes amis n'\u00e9tait l\u00e0 ! Ils \u00e9taient tous encore sur le terrain, profitant de la camaraderie d'un objectif commun. Et m\u00eame si j'avais de la compagnie dans la tente, c'\u00e9tait un peu comme si j'\u00e9tais mort. Personne n'avait rien \u00e0 faire, et bien s\u00fbr personne n'\u00e9tait autoris\u00e9 \u00e0 partir, si bien que l'ambiance \u00e9tait aussi sombre qu'un cimeti\u00e8re. Et pire encore ? Le caf\u00e9 \u00e9tait froid !<\/span><\/p>\n

En un rien de temps, toutes les choses qui m'avaient sembl\u00e9 si attrayantes pendant que je travaillais dans les champs n'ont pas r\u00e9pondu \u00e0 mes attentes. Je me suis vite retrouv\u00e9 \u00e0 regretter de ne pas avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 plus vigilant. Les choses sont devenues encore plus d\u00e9primantes lorsqu'\u00e0 la fin de l'exercice, mes amis, dont la majorit\u00e9 avait surv\u00e9cu, bouillonnaient tous d'histoires de guerre sur ce qui s'\u00e9tait pass\u00e9 apr\u00e8s que j'ai \u00e9t\u00e9 retir\u00e9 du jeu. Et pour ne rien arranger... ils ont tous re\u00e7u du caf\u00e9 chaud ! Je me suis soudain senti comme un outsider au sein de mon propre gang.<\/p>\n

Je suppose que ce que l'on dit \u00e0 propos de l'herbe qui semble toujours plus verte de l'autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la cl\u00f4ture est vrai - vous pouvez y arriver et d\u00e9couvrir qu'elle est tout aussi jaune et in\u00e9gale que la pelouse que vous venez de quitter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Je suppose que ce que j'ai d\u00e9couvert, c'est que m\u00eame lorsque les choses sont difficiles, cela vaut souvent la peine de pers\u00e9v\u00e9rer. Ne nous voilons pas la face : Quoi que nous fassions, il y aura toujours des moments ennuyeux, aggravants, d\u00e9cevants ou m\u00eame bouleversants. Mais ce que j'ai d\u00e9couvert, c'est qu'il y a aussi des r\u00e9compenses \u00e0 s'accrocher dans ces moments-l\u00e0.<\/span><\/p>\n

De nombreuses ann\u00e9es se sont \u00e9coul\u00e9es depuis que j'\u00e9tais ce nouveau marin de 18 ans. Mais lorsque je me suis souvenu d'appliquer ce que cette exp\u00e9rience avait essay\u00e9 de m'enseigner, j'ai go\u00fbt\u00e9 \u00e0 la victoire de s'accrocher malgr\u00e9 la tentation de l\u00e2cher prise, et j'ai profit\u00e9 d'autres exp\u00e9riences et d'autres fraternit\u00e9s que je n'avais m\u00eame pas vues venir.<\/span><\/p>\n

Il y a des moments o\u00f9 il est sage d'arr\u00eater les frais et de passer \u00e0 autre chose. Mais c'est souvent en ayant le courage et la force d'\u00e2me de s'accrocher \u00e0 nos relations, \u00e0 notre emploi et \u00e0 nos activit\u00e9s actuels, et en s'effor\u00e7ant de faire de ce que nous avons d\u00e9j\u00e0 ce qu'il y a de mieux, que nous obtiendrons les meilleurs r\u00e9sultats.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
