Le mandat du Capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Toni Bri Edmonds \u00e0 titre de commandant du Service de logistique de la base (Log B) de la BFC Halifax \u00e9tait sa toute premi\u00e8re affectation sur la c\u00f4te est, mais selon le Capitaine de vaisseau Andy MacKenzie, elle n'a eu aucune difficult\u00e9 \u00e0 s'int\u00e9grer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Elle s'est comport\u00e9e comme si elle \u00e9tait originaire des Maritimes, avec son \u00e9thique de travail et son souci du travail bien fait, mais aussi avec l'amiti\u00e9 et le fait d'apprendre \u00e0 conna\u00eetre et \u00e0 soutenir son \u00e9quipe au cours des deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Capv MacKenzie, commandant de la base de Halifax, au cours d'une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de passation de commandement du Log B qui s'est tenue le 10 ao\u00fbt \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur, le long de la jet\u00e9e NH de l'arsenal CSM. L'unit\u00e9 a dit au revoir au Capf Edmonds, qui a termin\u00e9 son mandat, et a accueilli le nouveau commandant, le Capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Chris Gabriel.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parmi les r\u00e9alisations et les projets notables des deux ann\u00e9es pass\u00e9es \u00e0 la t\u00eate du BLog, la Capf Edmonds mentionne la modernisation de l'espace de travail du QG, l'augmentation de la d\u00e9l\u00e9gation de pouvoirs, la modernisation du cours d'officier logistique avanc\u00e9 et les changements organisationnels qui ont permis d'am\u00e9liorer l'efficacit\u00e9 de l'unit\u00e9. Elle a ajout\u00e9 que l'un des faits marquants de sa vie personnelle a \u00e9t\u00e9 la participation \u00e0 des activit\u00e9s de bienfaisance et d'engagement communautaire, comme la supervision de l'exercice annuel \u00ab Mains sales \u00bb et la collaboration avec les Jeux olympiques sp\u00e9ciaux de la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse lors de leurs jeux provinciaux.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab La chance de remettre des m\u00e9dailles aux athl\u00e8tes est quelque chose que je ch\u00e9rirai \u00e0 jamais, et je ne saurais trop remercier Special Olympics Nova Scotia de m'avoir donn\u00e9 l'occasion unique de soutenir leur cause exceptionnelle \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

La Capf Edmonds a remerci\u00e9 d'innombrables personnes par leur nom lors de son discours d'adieu, et s'est concentr\u00e9e sur son appr\u00e9ciation de l'\u00e9norme groupe de personnes qui ont travaill\u00e9 \u00e0 ses c\u00f4t\u00e9s tout au long de son commandement. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab \u00c0 la communaut\u00e9 - les officiers de la logistique navale des FMAR(A) - vous \u00eates tous des professionnels exceptionnels, des travailleurs acharn\u00e9s et des membres extraordinaires de ce qui est, \u00e0 mon avis, la meilleure partie du service. Au cours des deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, je vous ai vus soutenir de multiples d\u00e9ploiements de navires et r\u00e9soudre des probl\u00e8mes \u00e0 la fois difficiles et dynamiques. Je suis extr\u00eamement fi\u00e8re de vous tous et, lorsque je regarde la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d'officiers du Log B, je vois que l'avenir est tr\u00e8s prometteur. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Son successeur, le Capf Gabriel, arrive au Log B de la BFC Halifax apr\u00e8s avoir travaill\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment avec le Directeur de la Logistique navale \u00e0 titre de chef de la section DNL2, responsable de la politique et de la planification de la logistique op\u00e9rationnelle de la Marine, des munitions, des services d'alimentation et du transport.<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a pass\u00e9 trois ans loin d'Halifax et, bien qu'il se dise heureux d'\u00eatre de retour, il souligne que le temps pass\u00e9 \u00e0 Ottawa a \u00e9t\u00e9 une excellente exp\u00e9rience d'apprentissage, particuli\u00e8rement en ce qui a trait \u00e0 l'\u00e9tat d'esprit au niveau strat\u00e9gique.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Capf Gabriel a d\u00e9crit son nouveau poste comme \u00e9tant \u00ab exactement l\u00e0 o\u00f9 je voulais \u00eatre \u00bb, et il a rappel\u00e9 le r\u00f4le le plus important du Service logistique : soutenir les op\u00e9rations de la MRC et de la flotte de l'Atlantique. Aux officiers logisticiens et aux autres membres du personnel qui travailleront d\u00e9sormais avec lui, il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il \u00e9tait enthousiaste \u00e0 l'id\u00e9e de rejoindre une \u00e9quipe qui a d\u00e9j\u00e0 accompli tant de choses ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Ils ont soutenu avec succ\u00e8s la flotte lors de nombreux d\u00e9ploiements, ainsi que la r\u00e9ponse de la base et de la formation aux ouragans, aux temp\u00eates de neige, \u00e0 une pand\u00e9mie mondiale, aux incendies de for\u00eat et, plus r\u00e9cemment, aux inondations.
