Le navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Oriole a quitt\u00e9 Halifax le 13 juillet pour entamer son d\u00e9ploiement 2023 sur les Grands Lacs, avec des visites dans 13 communaut\u00e9s diff\u00e9rentes le long des Grands Lacs et de la Voie maritime du Saint-Laurent pr\u00e9vues de juillet \u00e0 septembre.<\/p>\n

Rencontre avec le lieutenant de vaisseau Phillipe Noel, commandant en second de l'Oriole, qui a rejoint l'\u00e9quipage en avril de cette ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Quelle exp\u00e9rience de la navigation aviez-vous avant ce d\u00e9ploiement ?<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00ab Je navigue depuis longtemps. J'ai suivi ma formation \u00e0 bord de YAG, de NDC et, plus r\u00e9cemment, \u00e0 bord du NCSM Margaret Brooke avant de rejoindre le NCSM Oriole en tant que commandant en second. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Quel a \u00e9t\u00e9 l'aspect le plus difficile de ce poste unique ?<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00ab Le plus grand d\u00e9fi a \u00e9t\u00e9 la gestion du personnel. \u00c0 bord des NDC et des navires PEA, j'\u00e9tais un gardien de passerelle. Mon arriv\u00e9e au NCSM Oriole en tant que commandant en second m'a permis de d\u00e9velopper mes comp\u00e9tences en mati\u00e8re de leadership en tant qu'officier. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Y a-t-il des moments forts que vous avez v\u00e9cus \u00e0 bord d'Oriole jusqu'\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent ?<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00ab Un des points forts de mon s\u00e9jour \u00e0 bord du NCSM Oriole est chaque fois que nous levons les voiles. J'appr\u00e9cie le calme et la s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9 que procure le fait de hisser les voiles et de naviguer sur un grand navire comme l'Oriole. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Comment s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e l'int\u00e9gration dans cette petite \u00e9quipe ?<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00ab Chacun joue un r\u00f4le essentiel \u00e0 bord de l'Oriole, quel que soit son rang. Le fait de faire partie de l'\u00e9quipe de l'Oriole et de partager l'espace restreint dans lequel je travaille m'a permis de mieux appr\u00e9cier le travail d'\u00e9quipe. En outre, tout le monde a des ant\u00e9c\u00e9dents diff\u00e9rents, et un autre point fort de ce d\u00e9ploiement est la possibilit\u00e9 que j'ai d'encadrer des officiers subalternes et des membres du rang. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Y a-t-il autre chose que vous aimeriez ajouter ?<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00ab Oriole sera votre journ\u00e9e la plus difficile en mer. L'ORI se distingue du reste de la flotte par le fait que tout se passe \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur. Les quarts de quatre heures se d\u00e9roulent donc \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur, quelles que soient les conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques et la temp\u00e9rature.
