Apr\u00e8s un marathon de 1837 jours \u00e0 la t\u00eate du sous-marin canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Windsor, le capitaine de fr\u00e9gate William Matheson a remis le commandement du bateau \u00e0 son ami et coll\u00e8gue, le capitaine de corvette Harrison Nguyen-Huynh, lors d'une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie qui s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e le 15 juin au NCSM Scotian.\nAu cours de sa longue p\u00e9riode de commandement, le Capf Matheson a eu \u00e0 son actif trois officiers ex\u00e9cutifs diff\u00e9rents, quatre capitaine d'armes, six officiers de navigation et plus de 24 000 milles nautiques parcourus \u00e0 bord du Windsor.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Il a dirig\u00e9 son \u00e9quipage en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 au cours d'exercices intenses, de tirs d'armes et, surtout, en g\u00e9n\u00e9rant de la force - en formant et en encadrant la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de sous-mariniers \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le capitaine de vaisseau Alex Kooiman, qui s'est rendu \u00e0 Halifax pour l'occasion.<\/p>\n

Le Capv Kooiman a souhait\u00e9 la bienvenue au Capc Nguyen-Huynh dans ses nouvelles fonctions et a encourag\u00e9 les membres actuels de l'\u00e9quipage du Windsor \u00e0 consid\u00e9rer la passation de commandement comme une occasion de se rallier au nouveau commandant et d'aborder l'ann\u00e9e \u00e0 venir avec une \u00e9nergie nouvelle.<\/p>\n

Alors qu'il s'appr\u00eate \u00e0 quitter le Windsor apr\u00e8s cinq ans de service, le Capf Matheson a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il en avait appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 chaque minute et a annonc\u00e9 que son successeur h\u00e9riterait \u00ab d'un bateau incroyable avec le meilleur \u00e9quipage avec lequel il travaillera jamais. \u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab Cela me manquera-t-il ? Le fait d'\u00eatre charg\u00e9 par le pays de naviguer autour du monde avec des centaines de millions de dollars d'\u00e9quipement, 47 marins d'\u00e9lite \u00e0 bord, certaines des armes les plus destructrices des forces canadiennes, une mission et des communications limit\u00e9es ? Oui, \u00e7a va me manquer, mais honn\u00eatement, je ne vois pas comment le prochain travail pourrait \u00eatre comparable. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

S'adressant \u00e0 l'\u00e9quipage du Windsor apr\u00e8s avoir officiellement pris le commandement, le Capc Nguyen-Huynh a rappel\u00e9 \u00e0 quel point il \u00e9tait appropri\u00e9 de prendre la rel\u00e8ve du Capf Matheson, les deux hommes ayant pass\u00e9 d'innombrables heures ensemble \u00e0 bord de sous-marins de classe Victoria au cours de leur carri\u00e8re,<\/span><\/p>\n
