La Marine royale du Canada compte dans ses rangs un certain nombre de coureurs d\u00e9vou\u00e9s, et les choses n'\u00e9taient pas diff\u00e9rentes il y a 35 ans, lorsque l'un de ces athl\u00e8tes a fait l'objet d'un article dans le volume du Trident du 29 juin 1988.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Jack Miller a rejoint la MRC en 1963 en tant que sonarman, avant d'\u00eatre commissionn\u00e9 et de passer du statut d'officier maritime de surface et de subsurface \u00e0 celui d'officier d'\u00e9ducation physique. Tout au long de sa carri\u00e8re, il a occup\u00e9 les postes prestigieux de directeur des sports au Coll\u00e8ge militaire royal de Kingston, de commandant de l'\u00c9cole d'\u00e9ducation physique et de loisirs des Forces canadiennes \u00e0 Borden et de directeur de l'\u00e9ducation physique et des commodit\u00e9s pour les Forces canadiennes au QGDN \u00e0 Ottawa.<\/span><\/p>\n

Il avait 43 ans lorsque le profil a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9dig\u00e9, et a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit comme \"atteignant tout juste son apog\u00e9e\" en tant que coureur - ayant parcouru plus de 135 kilom\u00e8tres lors de comp\u00e9titions de course \u00e0 pied \u00e0 ce moment-l\u00e0 en 1988, et ayant encore beaucoup d'\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 parcourir.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Capf Miller a pris sa retraite des FAC en 2000 et a poursuivi une carri\u00e8re civile dans le domaine de l'\u00e9ducation physique. Il est actuellement professeur \u00e9m\u00e9rite en \u00e9ducation \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 Thompson Rivers \u00e0 Kamloops, en Colombie-Britannique.<\/span><\/p>\n
