Le 16 juin, le NCSM Margaret Brooke a officiellement re\u00e7u son troisi\u00e8me capitaine d'armes. Le capitaine d'armes sortant, le Premier ma\u00eetre de 1re classe Steve Clark, a pass\u00e9 le flambeau au Pm 1 Charles \u00ab Chuck \u00bb Landry. Pour marquer l'occasion, une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de changement de nomination a eu lieu sur le pont d'envol du navire en pr\u00e9sence des proches et des membres de l'\u00e9quipage, anciens et actuels.<\/p>\n

Dans son discours d'adieu, le premier ma\u00eetre de 1re classe Clark a remerci\u00e9 l'\u00e9quipage, sa femme Andrea et leurs deux filles pour le soutien qu'ils lui ont apport\u00e9 au cours de la p\u00e9riode charg\u00e9e qu'a \u00e9t\u00e9 le d\u00e9part de Margaret Brooke.<\/p>\n

\u00ab J'ai eu le privil\u00e8ge d'\u00eatre un capitaine d'armes ; je n'oublierai jamais le temps que j'ai pass\u00e9 \u00e0 bord du Margaret Brooke et \u00e0 naviguer avec vous tous. J'ai h\u00e2te de voir le navire s'\u00e9loigner du mur et reprendre la mer cet automne \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Au cours de son mandat, le capitaine d'armes Clark a v\u00e9cu le premier voyage en mer du navire, sa premi\u00e8re visite au port, les essais arctiques et par temps chaud apr\u00e8s l'acceptation, la premi\u00e8re op\u00e9ration de d\u00e9ploiement (Nanook), une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie d'affiliation avec le Nunatsiavut et des visites de bien-\u00eatre dans plusieurs communaut\u00e9s de Terre-Neuve \u00e0 la suite de l'ouragan Fiona.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outre son travail dans le cadre de l'op\u00e9ration Nanook, le Pm 1 Clark a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il \u00e9tait particuli\u00e8rement heureux de participer aux c\u00e9r\u00e9monies de bapt\u00eame et de mise en service du navire. Le Pm 1 Clark s'est toujours inqui\u00e9t\u00e9 d'avoir \u00ab manqu\u00e9 de peu \u00bb la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de mise en service du NCSM Halifax lorsqu'il a \u00e9t\u00e9 affect\u00e9 \u00e0 ce navire en 1992. <\/span>Halifax<\/span><\/i> when he was posted to the ship in 1992.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les capacit\u00e9s arctiques du navire constituent un autre point fort pour le Pm 1 Clark. La conception du NCSM Margaret Brooke permet le d\u00e9gla\u00e7age. Le Pm 1 Clark et le reste de l'\u00e9quipe ont donc fait l'exp\u00e9rience de se trouver sur une banquise, ce qui est historiquement tr\u00e8s inhabituel pour les navires de la Marine.<\/p>\n

\u00ab On ne voyait que du blanc. On avait l'impression d'\u00eatre sur la lune \u00bb, dit-il en souriant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 l'intention du nouveau capitaine d'armes, le Pm 1 Clark a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab Profitez-en, le temps passe vite... Prenez soin de l'\u00e9quipage du navire et ils prendront soin de vous. \u00bb\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La commandant du NCSM Margaret Brooke, la Capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Nicole Robichaud, a soulign\u00e9 l'importance de cette journ\u00e9e pour les deux chefs, et a insist\u00e9 sur l'importance du r\u00f4le de commandant en d\u00e9clarant : \u00ab \u00catre capitaine d'armes est l'apog\u00e9e de la carri\u00e8re d'un marin, qui n\u00e9cessite des ann\u00e9es de travail, de d\u00e9vouement, de sacrifices et de leadership. Il faut des ann\u00e9es, voire des d\u00e9cennies de travail acharn\u00e9, de d\u00e9vouement, de sacrifices et de leadership pour devenir capitaine d'armes. \u00bb<\/p>\n

La Capf Robichaud a salu\u00e9 le leadership du Pm 1 Clark en tant que capitaine d'armes, et a reconnu l'amiti\u00e9 qu'ils ont cultiv\u00e9e pendant son s\u00e9jour \u00e0 bord du NCSM Margaret Brooke. Dans son allocution au nouveau capitaine, le Pm 1 Landry, elle a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 :<\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous savons que vous arrivez \u00e0 Margaret Brooke avec un bagage de connaissances, d'exp\u00e9rience et de leadership, et que vous allez devoir relever des d\u00e9fis similaires mais diff\u00e9rents... vous serez un facteur cl\u00e9 pour maintenir la motivation et la concentration de l'\u00e9quipage. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Le Pm 1 Landry a fi\u00e8rement servi pendant plus de 25 ans dans les FAC et, lors de son premier discours en tant que capitaine d'armes, il a soulign\u00e9 l'importance de son syst\u00e8me de soutien, qui comprend sa femme et son fils, pour lui avoir permis d'arriver l\u00e0 o\u00f9 il est aujourd'hui.<\/span><\/p>\n
