Le NCSM Fredericton et ses partenaires du 2e Groupe de la Force navale permanente de l'OTAN (SNMG2) ont quitt\u00e9 la station navale de Rota, en Espagne, le lundi 29 mai, en pr\u00e9vision du d\u00e9but de l'exercice de la flottille 2023 (FLOTEX-23) organis\u00e9 par la Marine espagnole en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e occidentale.<\/p>\n

Le SNMG2 est entr\u00e9 dans la station navale de Rota, en Espagne, jeudi, avec son navire amiral, l'USS James E. Williams (DDG 95), pour la premi\u00e8re fois depuis le remplacement pr\u00e9vu du navire amiral de l'USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98). Pendant son s\u00e9jour \u00e0 Rota, le contre-amiral Scott Sciretta, commandant du SNMG2, s'est entretenu avec les hauts responsables de l'OTAN et de la marine espagnole pour discuter des futures possibilit\u00e9s d'op\u00e9rations maritimes et des pr\u00e9paratifs de l'exercice. Il a \u00e9galement organis\u00e9 une conf\u00e9rence de presse avec les m\u00e9dias espagnols locaux.<\/span><\/p>\n

FLOTEX-23 est un exercice maritime dirig\u00e9 par la marine espagnole qui vise \u00e0 fournir une formation \u00e0 l'interop\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 de la guerre interarm\u00e9es dans le cadre d'une op\u00e9ration de r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 une crise. Il t\u00e9moigne de l'engagement de la marine espagnole envers l'OTAN. Tous les pays de l'OTAN sont invit\u00e9s \u00e0 y participer et, cette ann\u00e9e, des unit\u00e9s du Canada, de la France, de la Gr\u00e8ce, de l'Italie, de la Lettonie, du Portugal, de la Turquie et des \u00c9tats-Unis participeront \u00e0 l'exercice, soit un total d'environ 5 000 personnes.<\/span><\/p>\n

L'exercice permet aux Alli\u00e9s de tester et d'am\u00e9liorer leur coh\u00e9sion et leur interop\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 afin d'accro\u00eetre leur capacit\u00e9 de dissuasion et de d\u00e9fense si n\u00e9cessaire. Le SNMG2 devrait participer \u00e0 FLOTEX-23 du d\u00e9but \u00e0 la mi-juin.<\/span><\/p>\n

En tant que groupe de travail de l'OTAN, le SNMG2 a pour priorit\u00e9 d'am\u00e9liorer l'\u00e9tat de pr\u00e9paration collectif, la r\u00e9activit\u00e9, l'aptitude au d\u00e9ploiement, l'int\u00e9gration et l'interop\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 de ses forces. Il se concentre sur la dissuasion et la d\u00e9fense contre tous les adversaires dans le domaine maritime, le maintien de la libert\u00e9 de navigation, la s\u00e9curisation des routes\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
