Le Capf Shaddock a dirig\u00e9 le NCSM Scotian pendant une partie de la pand\u00e9mie COVID-19, des c\u00e9l\u00e9brations d'anniversaire importantes et une campagne de recrutement, et il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il \u00e9tait extr\u00eamement fier de l'\u00e9quipe du Scotian pour le travail accompli pendant cette p\u00e9riode.<\/p>\n

Le Cmdre Patrick Montgomery, commandant de la r\u00e9serve navale, s'est rendu \u00e0 Halifax pour la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de passation de commandement, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9duite par rapport au d\u00e9fil\u00e9 habituel de l'ensemble des unit\u00e9s en raison de la situation des incendies de for\u00eat dans la r\u00e9gion d'Halifax.<\/span>

\u00ab J'appr\u00e9cie le fait que nous ayons pu r\u00e9aliser cette c\u00e9r\u00e9monie dans des circonstances aussi stressantes \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9, soulignant l'importance de ce moment et remerciant le Capf Shaddock d'avoir contribu\u00e9 aux succ\u00e8s du Scotian au cours des deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es en tant que commandant.<\/p>\n

En accueillant le Capf Penney dans ses nouvelles fonctions, le Cmdre Montgomery s'est dit convaincu que le nouveau commandant est \u00e0 la hauteur de la t\u00e2che. Le Capf Penney s'est joint \u00e0 la R\u00e9serve navale en 1991 au NCSM Chippawa, \u00e0 Winnipeg, et fait partie du NCSM Scotian depuis 2000. Il a occup\u00e9 un certain nombre de postes au sein des unit\u00e9s de la R\u00e9serve et de la flotte, y compris une s\u00e9rie d'affectations en mer de 1995 \u00e0 2007. Il travaille \u00e9galement comme fonctionnaire au sein du MDN, en tant que gestionnaire de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et de l'environnement \u00e0 l'IMF Cape Scott.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s plus de 20 ans pass\u00e9s au sein de la \u00ab famille \u00bb Scotian, le nouveau commandant s'est dit honor\u00e9 de diriger l'unit\u00e9. Tout en remerciant son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur, ses coll\u00e8gues, sa famille et tous ceux qui l'ont aid\u00e9 \u00e0 atteindre ce stade de sa carri\u00e8re, le Capf Penney s'est \u00e9galement concentr\u00e9 sur l'avenir et sur les r\u00e9servistes qui seront sous son commandement. Il a ajout\u00e9 que le Scotian mettra l'accent sur les conseils, l'encadrement, le mentorat et le d\u00e9veloppement professionnel au sein de l'\u00e9quipage du navire.<\/p>\n
