Par les affaires publiques du MARCOM de l'OTAN<\/b><\/p>\n

Au cours des derni\u00e8res semaines, le 2e groupe maritime permanent OTAN (SNMG2) a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 de multiples activit\u00e9s en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e, mettant en \u00e9vidence sa port\u00e9e et son int\u00e9gration transparente avec les marines alli\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pendant que le navire amiral de la SNMG2, l'USS James E. Williams, patrouillait en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e orientale pour mener des activit\u00e9s de vigilance et de surveillance, le NCSM Fredericton (FFH 337) et l'ITS Thaon Di Revel (P 430) participaient \u00e0 l'exercice Mare Aperto 23-1, organis\u00e9 par la marine italienne.<\/p>\n

L'exercice Mare Aperto a r\u00e9uni plus de 5 500 personnes provenant de 23 pays diff\u00e9rents. Les unit\u00e9s participantes ont pris part \u00e0 des simulations r\u00e9alistes et \u00e0 des sc\u00e9narios d'entra\u00eenement destin\u00e9s \u00e0 simuler des combats contre des menaces conventionnelles et asym\u00e9triques, des raids c\u00f4tiers, le contr\u00f4le des fonds marins, des op\u00e9rations de lutte contre le trafic de stup\u00e9fiants et des missions de sauvetage en cas de catastrophe naturelle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mare Aperto repr\u00e9sente le principal \u00e9v\u00e9nement annuel d'entra\u00eenement de la marine, planifi\u00e9 et dirig\u00e9 par le commandant en chef de l'escadre navale, l'amiral Aurelio De Carolis, avec l'aide de son \u00e9tat-major embarqu\u00e9.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s la fin de Mare Aperto 23-1 le 6 mai, l'USS James E. Williams est pass\u00e9 de la surveillance \u00e0 un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 dans l'exercice Noble Jump 23, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de l'ITS Alpino (F 594) dans les mers Ionienne et Adriatique du 8 au 11 mai. L'exercice, parrain\u00e9 par le Joint Force Command Naples, a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u pour tester la capacit\u00e9 des unit\u00e9s \u00e0 planifier et \u00e0 mener un d\u00e9ploiement dans une zone contest\u00e9e dans des conditions de temps de paix.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 la fin de l'exercice, le navire amiral du SNMG2 a effectu\u00e9 une visite portuaire de trois jours \u00e0 Cagliari.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Notre capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9sagr\u00e9ger le groupe op\u00e9rationnel et \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 plusieurs exigences \u00e0 la fois t\u00e9moigne de la souplesse et de l'interop\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 de nos op\u00e9rations\", a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le commandant de la SNMG2, le contre-amiral Scott Sciretta de l'U.S. Navy. \"Nos unit\u00e9s ont pu s'entra\u00eener et am\u00e9liorer leur \u00e9tat de pr\u00e9paration en vue de crises futures, tout en maintenant la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 du domaine maritime strat\u00e9gique et en projetant un rappel constant et visible de la solidarit\u00e9 et de la coh\u00e9sion de l'Alliance sur l'eau. C'est ce qui fait la force de l'alliance de l'OTAN. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

En tant que groupe de travail de l'OTAN, le SNMG2 a pour priorit\u00e9 d'am\u00e9liorer l'\u00e9tat de pr\u00e9paration collectif, la r\u00e9activit\u00e9, l'aptitude au d\u00e9ploiement, l'int\u00e9gration et l'interop\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 de ses forces. Il se concentre sur la dissuasion et la d\u00e9fense contre tous les adversaires dans le domaine maritime, sur le maintien de la libert\u00e9 de navigation, sur la s\u00e9curisation des routes commerciales maritimes et sur la protection des principales lignes de communication.<\/span><\/p>\n
