\n<\/strong>Champion des 2ELGBTQI+ de l'\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense<\/p>\n

May 17 marks the International day against homophobia, transphobia, & biphobia (IDAHOBIT). Created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex people, and all of those with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics, IDAHOBIT is currently celebrated in more than 130 countries worldwide and brings together organizations and initiatives at global, regional, national, and local levels. May 17.<\/sup>\u00a0was specifically chosen because on that date in 1990, the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder.<\/p>\n

Le terme \u00ab phobie \u00bb est d\u00e9fini comme \u00e9tant une peur ou une aversion extr\u00eame ou irrationnelle \u00e0 l'\u00e9gard de quelque chose. Il se peut donc que les mots homophobie, transphobie et biphobie ne soient pas des termes qui conviennent dans ce cas. \u00c0 la base, l'homophobie, la transphobie et la biphobie ne sont pas n\u00e9cessairement li\u00e9es \u00e0 la peur, mais \u00e0 la haine \u2013 une haine irrationnelle.<\/p>\n

Ce que nous savons avec certitude, c'est que l'\u00e9thos au sein des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC) n'est pas fond\u00e9 sur la haine. L'\u00e9thos, comme cit\u00e9 dans la publication Digne de servir, se d\u00e9finit comme l'esprit caract\u00e9ristique d'une culture, d'une communaut\u00e9 ou d'une organisation, tel qu'il se manifeste dans ses croyances et ses aspirations. La haine ne fait pas partie des caract\u00e9ristiques de nos forces arm\u00e9es, et ne peut pas en faire partie.<\/p>\n

Je sers fi\u00e8rement le minist\u00e8re de la D\u00e9fense nationale (MDN) et les FAC depuis plus de 38 ans et, en 2022, je suis devenu champion des 2ELGBTQI+ de l'\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense. Au cours de ma carri\u00e8re, j'ai peut-\u00eatre pens\u00e9, ne serait-ce que bri\u00e8vement, que les choses ne changeraient jamais. Mais aujourd'hui, en travaillant sur de nombreux aspects du changement de culture, et avec du recul, je constate que nous \u00e9tions en train de changer. Le changement et l'\u00e9volution de notre fa\u00e7on de penser au cours de ces d\u00e9cennies ne se sont pas faits \u00e0 pas de g\u00e9ant, mais plut\u00f4t \u00e0 un rythme r\u00e9gulier. J'ai constat\u00e9 l'\u00e9volution des mentalit\u00e9s et des comportements. J'ai vu le pouvoir de la solidarit\u00e9 transformer notre institution d\u00e9j\u00e0 riche en une institution qui favorise et encourage activement la diversit\u00e9 et qui pratique l'inclusion.<\/p>\n

Alors que nous observons d'autres r\u00e9gions du monde r\u00e9gresser en mati\u00e8re d'acceptation, nous continuerons d'aller de l'avant en mati\u00e8re de progr\u00e8s. Nous remettrons en question les normes pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment accept\u00e9es. Nous resterons vigilants face aux traitements et aux comportements inacceptables et nous ne permettrons pas que nos droits durement acquis soient menac\u00e9s. Nous serons les alli\u00e9s de ceux qui nous entourent, nous d\u00e9fendrons les droits des personnes 2ELGBTQI+ et, comme l'indique notre \u00e9thos, nous mettrons en avant des valeurs, des attentes et des principes clairs au sein de notre culture militaire.<\/p>\n

Ainsi, \u00e0 l'occasion de la Journ\u00e9e internationale contre l'homophobie, la transphobie et la biphobie, je vous invite \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 l'importance d'\u00eatre un alli\u00e9 et du r\u00f4le que vous jouez pour contribuer \u00e0 l'am\u00e9lioration de la culture et de la communaut\u00e9 du MDN et des FAC.<\/p>\n
