\n<\/span>Pr\u00e8s d'une d\u00e9cennie apr\u00e8s leur dernier championnat national, l'\u00e9quipe masculine de basket-ball des Mariners de Halifax a finalement repris sa place au sommet de la pyramide du basket-ball de la FAC. Les Mariners ont battu les Tritons de la BFC Esquimalt 88-72 dans le match de la m\u00e9daille d'or le 4 mai devant la foule de la 12e Escadre Shearwater, concluant ainsi une semaine d'action excitante sur le terrain.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pour le Capt Nic Leger, qui a remport\u00e9 cinq championnats r\u00e9gionaux avec les Mariners, mais qui n'avait pas encore gagn\u00e9 l'or national, la victoire a \u00e9t\u00e9 cathartique. Il a marqu\u00e9 35 points lors du match de championnat et a remport\u00e9 le titre de joueur le plus utile de la finale et du tournoi, mais il a aussi fait l'\u00e9loge de ses co\u00e9quipiers et de son entra\u00eeneur en chef de longue date, Kevin Miller, des PSP d'Halifax. Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le programme d'entra\u00eenement charg\u00e9 de l'\u00e9quipe tout au long de l'ann\u00e9e, y compris un certain nombre de matchs d'exhibition locaux, a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9terminant.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nous avons laiss\u00e9 le jeu venir \u00e0 nous en attaque et nous sommes rest\u00e9s pr\u00e9sents et ouverts aux opportunit\u00e9s. Nous avons \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 l'\u00e9quipe la plus coriace sur le plan d\u00e9fensif. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Capt Leger a ajout\u00e9 qu'il \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s heureux de remporter l'or devant ses amis et sa famille, sa femme et ses enfants partageant les c\u00e9l\u00e9brations apr\u00e8s l'avoir soutenu tout au long de la semaine.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Le basket-ball de la FAC a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le important dans ma d\u00e9cision de me joindre \u00e0 la FAC et c'est un facteur important qui explique pourquoi je demeure dans la FAC aujourd'hui. Le basket-ball des FAC renforce l'\u00e9thique militaire et incite \u00e0 rester en excellente condition physique tout au long de l'ann\u00e9e. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 d'Esquimalt, le Ltv Owen Murphy, qui a men\u00e9 son \u00e9quipe au chapitre des points tout au long de la semaine et qui a remport\u00e9 plusieurs prix de joueur le plus utile du match, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que les Tritons quittaient Halifax le moral gonfl\u00e9 \u00e0 bloc, m\u00eame s'ils n'ont pas r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 remporter le match de la m\u00e9daille d'or. L'\u00e9quipe est rest\u00e9e invaincue tout au long du tournoi \u00e0 la ronde, infligeant m\u00eame \u00e0 Halifax sa seule d\u00e9faite de la semaine en d\u00e9but de semaine dans un match serr\u00e9 de 86 \u00e0 84. Ils ont \u00e9galement lutt\u00e9 contre l'adversit\u00e9 en demi-finale, remontant un d\u00e9ficit de 11 points \u00e0 5 minutes de la fin pour vaincre les Ottawa Nationals et passer en finale.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le personnel des PSP au Centre de fitness, de sports et de loisirs de la 12e Escadre Shearwater a re\u00e7u des critiques \u00e9logieuses de tout le pays pour ses efforts d'accueil, avec des animations \u00e0 la mi-temps, des retransmissions en direct avec des commentaires de haute qualit\u00e9 et d'autres \u00e9l\u00e9ments tout au long de la semaine. Wally Buckoski (commentaire), Matt MacKenzie (cam\u00e9ra) et Mary Thompson (organisation) ont \u00e9t\u00e9 particuli\u00e8rement remerci\u00e9s. En raison des restrictions et des annulations li\u00e9es \u00e0 la pand\u00e9mie, il s'agissait du premier Championnat national de basket-ball de la CAF depuis 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n
