Le Sackville est un lieu historique national et une attraction embl\u00e9matique du front de mer historique d'Halifax.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Mis en service en 1941 \u00e0 Saint John, au Nouveau-Brunswick, le Sackville est un v\u00e9t\u00e9ran de la bataille de l'Atlantique (1939-1945) et la derni\u00e8re des 123 corvettes qui ont servi dans la Marine royale du Canada pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Avec ses navires jumeaux, le Sackville a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le essentiel (escorte de convois) dans la guerre en mer. Le navire occupe une place particuli\u00e8re dans le patrimoine naval canadien et fait partie int\u00e9grante de l'histoire de la Marine royale du Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Le NCSM Sackville sera ouvert au public pour des visites \u00e0 la mi-juin. Le navire a \u00e9t\u00e9 restaur\u00e9 dans sa configuration du temps de la guerre et comprend des expositions et des artefacts d\u00e9di\u00e9s \u00e0 ceux qui ont servi pendant la bataille de l'Atlantique, ainsi qu'un m\u00e9morial \u00e0 tous ceux qui ont fait le sacrifice ultime. Les invit\u00e9s peuvent visiter le pont principal des canons, la timonerie, le pont ouvert, le gaillard d'arri\u00e8re, les timoneries, le mess des chefs et des officiers mariniers, les salles des machines et des chaudi\u00e8res, les mess des matelots, la cabine du capitaine et bien d'autres choses encore. \u00c0 bord, vous pouvez faire votre propre visite en utilisant les portails audio situ\u00e9s dans tout le navire, ou bien un guide touristique d\u00e9sign\u00e9 peut vous escorter et vous fournir des commentaires pour une histoire plus compl\u00e8te.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Le capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Gary Reddy (retrait\u00e9), commandant du NCSM Sackville, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que \u00ab le Fonds de comm\u00e9moration de la Marine canadienne (qui entretient et exploite le Sackville) et l'\u00e9quipage b\u00e9n\u00e9vole du navire sont ravis de revenir dans le secteur riverain du centre-ville.
