Les copr\u00e9sidents locaux des sections de l'Organisation consultative des femmes de la D\u00e9fense (OCFD) de tout le pays, et d'ailleurs, se sont r\u00e9cemment r\u00e9unis en personne pour la premi\u00e8re fois depuis 2017. Le groupe a tenu deux jours de r\u00e9unions \u00e0 Halifax les 14 et 15 mars. C'\u00e9tait l'occasion pour les membres de faire connaissance apr\u00e8s des ann\u00e9es de r\u00e9unions virtuelles, et cela a \u00e9galement permis de tenir des s\u00e9ances d'information, des groupes de travail et de c\u00e9l\u00e9brer les r\u00e9alisations de l'OCFD au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab L'objectif de ces deux jours est de mieux informer tous nos copr\u00e9sidents et de leur donner les moyens d'agir dans le cadre du travail qu'ils effectuent dans leurs bases locales \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Chantel Helwer, l'une des deux copr\u00e9sidentes nationales de l'OCFD. Elle repr\u00e9sente la partie civile, bien qu'elle soit \u00e9galement lieutenant de vaisseau dans la r\u00e9serve navale. Helwer et son homologue militaire, la Lcol Tania Maurice, occupent ces postes depuis quatre ans. Elles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 rejointes \u00e0 Halifax par la championne nationale de l'OCFD, la major-g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Lise Bourgon, ainsi que par des copr\u00e9sidents de bases canadiennes et d'affectations OUTCAN en Europe et aux \u00c9tats-Unis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Helwer a soulign\u00e9 un certain nombre de r\u00e9ussites r\u00e9centes qui sont le fruit du travail de l'OCFD, notamment les changements apport\u00e9s aux instructions relatives \u00e0 la tenue vestimentaire des FAC, une nouvelle politique en mati\u00e8re de soins infirmiers, et m\u00eame le soutien et le remboursement des dispositifs d'urination de campagne pour les membres, entre autres exemples.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab C'est tr\u00e8s \u00e9clairant et valorisant de reconna\u00eetre que les personnes pr\u00e9sentes dans cette salle ont eu un impact r\u00e9el sur les FAC et le MDN. Il s'agit d'un groupe de personnes tr\u00e8s passionn\u00e9es et tr\u00e8s inspirantes \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Helwer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le groupe s'est \u00e9galement pench\u00e9 sur certains probl\u00e8mes ou changements positifs survenus au niveau local dans les bases du Canada, afin d'identifier les d\u00e9fis communs aux femmes des FAC et du MDN, mais aussi d'\u00e9tudier les possibilit\u00e9s d'\u00e9tendre les initiatives locales positives \u00e0 d'autres bases. Parmi les exemples, citons l'expansion r\u00e9cente des espaces de lactation d\u00e9sign\u00e9s \u00e0 la BFC Halifax et \u00e0 la 12e Escadre Shearwater.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Les copr\u00e9sidents locaux sont \u00e9videmment tr\u00e8s au fait de ce qui se passe dans leur base locale et se concentrent sur les probl\u00e8mes qui leur sont propres, mais s'il s'agit d'une question qui s'applique \u00e0 plusieurs bases, ils peuvent nous en faire part \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Helwer. L'ex\u00e9cutif national a la possibilit\u00e9 de soulever des questions au niveau du CEMD\/sous-ministre, ce qui peut entra\u00eener des changements de politique ou clarifier des questions relatives \u00e0 l'interpr\u00e9tation de la politique.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Comme d'autres groupes d'\u00e9quit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re d'emploi du MDN, l'OCFD compte sur des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles pour remplir leur r\u00f4le de copr\u00e9sident et accomplir des t\u00e2ches en plus de leur emploi r\u00e9gulier. L'\u00e9quipe nationale a remerci\u00e9 les plus de 50 copr\u00e9sidents locaux de l'OCFD qui donnent de leur temps pour aider \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer les politiques et la culture des FAC pour les membres f\u00e9minins de l'\u00e9quipe. Ils ont \u00e9galement soulign\u00e9 que le travail de l'organisation a des retomb\u00e9es et qu'un lieu de travail plus \u00e9galitaire pour les femmes est b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour tout le monde.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s un certain nombre de \u00ab petites victoires\" r\u00e9centes, le groupe a \u00e9galement abord\u00e9 les questions plus g\u00e9n\u00e9rales relatives \u00e0 la culture des FAC et \u00e0 l'\u00e9quit\u00e9 pour les femmes au sein des FAC et du MDN, et il est pr\u00e9vu d'\u00e9laborer un certain nombre de notes d'information \u00e0 partir des discussions qui ont eu lieu \u00e0 Halifax.<\/span>
