For the first time, east coast ships Royal Canadian Navy are on the way to the Indo-Pacific region for a major deployment. His Majesty\u2019s Canadian Ship (HMCS)<\/span> Montr\u00e9al<\/span><\/i> departed Halifax on March 26 for six months in support of Operations Projection and Neon, accompanied by her CH-148 Cyclone Helicopter and air detachment crew, as well as the supply vessel MV Asterix and its embarked Naval Replenishment Unit.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Mon \u00e9quipage est particuli\u00e8rement enthousiaste, car c'est la premi\u00e8re fois qu'un navire de la c\u00f4te est est d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 dans le cadre de l'op\u00e9ration Projection \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Paul Mountford, commandant du NCSM <\/span>Montr\u00e9al<\/span><\/i>. Afin de soutenir la nouvelle strat\u00e9gie du gouvernement canadien dans la r\u00e9gion indo-pacifique, des navires des deux c\u00f4tes participeront d\u00e9sormais aux d\u00e9ploiements, en effectuant des patrouilles et des exercices aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de navires et d'a\u00e9ronefs d'autres nations.\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab C'est une excellente occasion pour nos marins d'apprendre aupr\u00e8s de certains des meilleurs, et pour nous de leur faire profiter de notre exp\u00e9rience \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le contre-amiral Brian Santarpia, commandant des Forces maritimes de l'Atlantique (FMAR(A)) et de la Force op\u00e9rationnelle interarm\u00e9es de l'Atlantique (FOIA).<\/span>

\n<\/span>Le Contre-amiral Santarpia a indiqu\u00e9 que le <\/span>Montr\u00e9al<\/span><\/i> participera avec ses partenaires et alli\u00e9s \u00e0 un certain nombre d'exercices dans l'oc\u00e9an Indien et la mer de Chine m\u00e9ridionale, avant de se rendre au Japon pour prendre part \u00e0 l'op\u00e9ration N\u00e9on, la contribution du Canada \u00e0 la surveillance des sanctions impos\u00e9es par les Nations Unies \u00e0 la Cor\u00e9e du Nord. Il est pr\u00e9vu que le navire retourne ensuite dans les eaux australiennes pour l'exercice international Talisman Sabre plus tard dans l'\u00e9t\u00e9.\n<\/span>

\n<\/span>Avant le d\u00e9ploiement du <\/span>Montr\u00e9al <\/span><\/i>, les navires de la c\u00f4te ouest NCSM Vancouver et NCSM Winnipeg ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s dans l'Indo-Pacifique d'ao\u00fbt \u00e0 d\u00e9cembre 2022, et il est maintenant pr\u00e9vu de d\u00e9ployer deux autres fr\u00e9gates de classe Halifax dans la r\u00e9gion \u00e0 une date ult\u00e9rieure.
