October 23 Kootenay Day On Oct. 23, 1969, nine crewmen died and 53 were seriously injured after an explosion ripped through HMCS Kootenay’s starboard gearbox. October 24 Canadian Blood Services Clinic Canadian Blood Services invites you to the Naval Fleet School (Atlantic) Drill Shed (Stadacona building S120, 2830 Admirals Way) on Monday, October 24, from 10 am to 3 pm, to give blood.
